COVID-19 Updates

In an effort to ensure the safety of our staff and clients, we are utilizing low-contact service to all our clients for all pet care needs.

Curbside Service

In light of the recent developments surrounding the COVID-19 virus and the recent order for shelter in place, we would like to update you on our new protocols and procedures. Palomar Animal Hospital is and will remain open until further mandates are given. We must, however, limit our contact with people to ensure that our staff and pet parents stay safe and healthy. During this time, we will only be seeing patients that have critical and urgent needs.

If you feel that your pet needs to be seen please call us and we will determine when we can see your pet. To limit our contact, we have implemented curbside check-in and discharge procedures. When you arrive for your appointment you will need to call us from your vehicle and let us know that you have arrived. We will then send a technician out to the vehicle to bring your pet into the hospital to be examined while you wait in the vehicle. We will be using our leashes to bring your pet inside and we will be using hand sanitizer before handling any cages and carriers. The doctor will examine your pet and then either call you or come out to the vehicle to discuss your pet’s care with you.

At the end of the exam, we will collect payment over the phone and bring your pet, your receipt with the invoice, and any medications or items being sent. These same protocols and procedures will take place for prescriptions, food orders, and other items. You will call us first to put in your request. When we have your items ready for pick up, we will call you and collect payment over the phone. When you arrive for pick up you will call us to alert us of your arrival and we will bring your items and receipt out to you. Any clients who are exhibiting symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, or breathing difficulties must refrain from coming to the practice. Please have a family member or friend bring your pet or pick up your items on your behalf. If this is not possible please contact us so that we can find an alternative way for you. We would like to assure you that we are taking every possible precaution and are disinfecting all commonly touched surfaces after every use in addition to increasing the numerous and stringent sanitizing and disinfecting practices that were already in place.
